At Amazon Accelerate 2026, Amazon announced new AI tools for sellers, and on October 6 it pointed sellers to them as a way to head into the holidays with less manual work. Two earlier CruxFinder posts cover the setup, workflows and permissions side of these tools. This one is about the holiday question: what should you actually ask Seller Assistant, Amazon Quick and the selling partner plugin to do between now and Black Friday, and which guardrails should you set before you let any of them act on your account?

The Problem: Q4 Gives You More Decisions Than Hours

The holiday season stacks work on top of work. You are deciding deal prices, restocking before inventory runs thin, watching ad spend and rewriting listings for gift buyers, all while sales volume rises. Every one of those decisions has a cost if you get it wrong, and you rarely have time to model each one.

Amazon's Seller Central announcement says the new AI capabilities help you spot opportunities faster and automate routine tasks. The full Accelerate announcement has the detail. The practical question for a seller is where the tools save real time and where they add risk.

What Amazon Announced: Three Tools, Three Jobs

Amazon describes three tools:

  • Seller Assistant is an AI partner inside Seller Central. It draws on your real-time business data, including inventory patterns, sales trends and what customers love, along with Amazon's broader market intelligence. Amazon's Seller Assistant help page has the reference.
  • Amazon Quick is a standalone AI companion. It creates documents and spreadsheets, runs deep research, and connects to your email, calendar and files. Amazon Quick is offered free for 12 months as Quick Plus (plus two delegated users) to every primary account holder who signs up before December 31, 2026.
  • The selling partner plugin connects your listings, performance and analytics to Amazon Quick and Anthropic's Claude, both in beta, so your preferred AI agent can act on your Amazon business. See the selling partner plugin help page.

The Holiday Prompts Amazon Itself Suggests

Amazon's announcement includes example questions. Each maps to a real Q4 decision:

  • "Which products are about to surge in demand?" Seller Assistant identifies the opportunity, connects it to your inventory and drafts a recommendation with the reasoning included. This is your restock and ad-priority question.
  • "How profitable would a 10%, 15%, or 20% promotion be?" Amazon says a dynamic visual workspace lets you compare scenarios in real time. This is your deal pricing question.
  • "If a product's conversion rate drops below 2%, adjust my ad spend automatically." This is a workflow rule you describe, set guardrails on and let Seller Assistant monitor.
  • "How did my discount on this product perform for me last Black Friday?" This is a Quick question that looks back before you decide what to repeat.
  • "Help me update this listing to highlight gift-ready messaging for the holidays." This is a plugin request to your preferred AI agent.

Amazon also says you can use pre-built automations or create your own, such as mapping out your full Black Friday strategy.

The Setting That Matters Most: Recommend or Act

Amazon says that with workflows, you describe what you need, set your guardrails, and Seller Assistant monitors and executes tasks like restocking and pricing. You choose whether it recommends or acts, and every action is logged.

That choice is the whole risk decision. A workflow that recommends costs you a few minutes of review. A workflow that acts can change a price or an ad budget at 3 a.m. on a high-traffic day. Amazon has not said in this announcement how fine-grained the guardrails are, so open the tool and check what you can limit before you rely on it. The guidance below is my analysis, not Amazon's.

Why Amazon Is Doing This

Amazon's stated reason is to help sellers spot opportunities faster and automate routine tasks. Some other incentives line up with that, and this part is analysis:

  • Sellers who use Amazon's tools stay inside Amazon's tools. Seller Assistant and Quick keep your analysis close to Seller Central data.
  • A free Quick Plus year builds a habit. The 12-month offer gets sellers using Amazon's AI companion before any paid decision.
  • The plugin meets sellers where they already work. Connecting to Claude and Quick lets Amazon reach sellers who prefer their own AI agent.

How Sellers Are Affected: Real Upside, Real Risk

The upside. Faster answers on demand spikes, quicker deal math, routine restocking and pricing handled by rules you set, and a free year of Quick for research and documents. For a small team in Q4, hours saved on analysis are hours spent on inventory and customer service.

The risks.

  • An automated rule can chase the wrong number. Amazon's example cuts ad spend when conversion falls below 2%. A rule like that can also starve a good product during a traffic surge or a temporary dip. This is why you need a floor and a human check.
  • Pricing automation can erode margin. A price rule without a minimum can undercut you on your best days.
  • Recommendations are not decisions. A drafted recommendation with reasoning is a starting point. You still own the outcome.
  • Beta tools can change. Quick and the Claude connection are both in beta, so features and behavior may shift before the holidays end.

Here is illustrative math, not a benchmark. A product sells for $40 with a $26 landed cost, so the margin is $14. A 10% promotion ($36) leaves $10, a 15% promotion ($34) leaves $8 and a 20% promotion ($32) leaves $6. To earn the same total profit as at full price, you need roughly 1.4 times the units at 10% off, 1.75 times at 15% and 2.3 times at 20%. That is the kind of scenario comparison Amazon says Seller Assistant can run, and it is the check to make before any deal goes live.

What to Do Right Now

  1. Check access. Open Seller Assistant in Seller Central and confirm which features appear in your account. Review the Seller Assistant help page for the current list.
  2. Start with read-only questions. Ask the demand surge question and the promotion scenario question first. Compare the answers with your own numbers before you trust them.
  3. Set every new workflow to recommend first. Use the recommend option for at least a week. Review each suggestion and the reasoning before moving anything to act.
  4. Write guardrails before you write rules. For pricing, set a price floor that covers fees and cost. For ads, set a daily spend cap. For restocking, set a maximum order quantity.
  5. Adapt the 2% conversion rule. Do not copy it blindly. Add a minimum traffic threshold so a quiet day does not trigger a cut, and set a limit on how much spend can change per day.
  6. Claim the Quick offer. If you want to use it, sign up for Amazon Quick before December 31, 2026. Then ask it how your discounts performed last Black Friday, before you set this year's prices.
  7. Cross-check with your own AI tool. Export last year's Q4 sales and ad data and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with a prompt like this: "Which of my products sold best during last year's Black Friday week, which had the thinnest margins after discounts, and which ran out of stock?" Our guide to using AI to plan Prime Day and Q4 covers more of this workflow.
  8. Use the plugin for listings first. Updating a listing with gift-ready messaging is a lower-risk first use than changing prices or ads. Read the permissions and liability guide above before you connect anything.
  9. Submit your deals on time. The Black Friday and Cyber Monday submission window closes October 20, 2026. See our deals deadline checklist.
  10. Review the action log daily during the event. Amazon says every action is logged. Read it every morning in the peak week.
